Shropshire event to help construction sector explore benefits of AI

SCE chair Paul Inions

Construction sector businesses in Shropshire will have the opportunity to hear real-world insights into how AI is changing the industry at a breakfast event next month.

Shropshire Constructing Excellence, part of Constructing Excellence West Midlands, is hosting the event on 19 May 2026 at Telford Fire Station.

AI in construction: from introduction to implementation aims to help businesses understand how artificial intelligence and digital tools are being implemented across the construction sector and what this means for their organisations.

The event, sponsored by Be Bold Media, will bring together expert speakers to share practical experience and guidance on AI implementation, cyber security and digital construction tools.

SCE chair Paul Inions said artificial intelligence was rapidly changing how businesses across all sectors operate and construction was no exception.

“Artificial intelligence is at a tipping point in construction. Recent data shows that around 14.4% of UK construction businesses are now using AI, up from roughly 10% the previous year.

“There is a lot of discussion about AI and digital transformation in construction, but what businesses really need is practical guidance on what it means for them and how they can implement it effectively. This event brings together speakers with real-world experience to help businesses understand the opportunities, the challenges and the risks.”

Speakers at the event include Alex Molloy of SOLJET Construction, who will share the company’s journey into AI from an SME perspective, including examples of what has worked, what hasn’t and what it means for the future of the business.

Lee Doughty, of Intercity, will explore AI integration and cyber security, while Gurdeep Kaur of Fieldwire by Hilti will look at practical applications in construction, exploring how the Fieldwire platform can help businesses improve site coordination, reduce rework and miscommunication and get more value from their digital workflows.

Event host is Amy Bould, managing director of Be Bold Media, which works with construction sector businesses to help them understand the impact of AI search on their online visibility and credibility.

Paul, who is also the managing director of Shropshire civil engineering and construction company McPhillips, added: “We are delighted to have speakers who can offer genuine insight into how AI and digital tools are being used in practice. Whether you are just starting to explore these technologies or are already on your digital transformation journey, there will be something valuable for you at this event.”

The event is free to attend for construction sector companies and members of Constructing Excellence Midlands and/or CE Midlands Shropshire Club.

It starts with breakfast and networking from 8am-8.30am, closing at 10am.
