To mark this milestone, Simmonsigns opened its doors to partners and the wider community with a factory open day, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the production process behind some of the UK’s most recognisable street-level safety products.
Founded in 1985, Simmonsigns designs and manufactures road safety solutions used on highways right across the country including illuminated and non-illuminated ‘Keep Left’ bollards, sign lighting units, zebra crossing beacons, and fixed speed indication devices and an increasingly popular solar powered range. If you’ve driven on a road in the UK, chances are you’ve seen a Simmonsigns product and quite possibly one made in Telford.
Telford & Wrekin Council, through its Highways and Transport team, has worked with Simmonsigns for many years and uses a wide range of their products across the Borough to help keep roads safer for both drivers and pedestrians.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for The Economy, said: “Simmonsigns is a brilliant example of how Telford-based businesses are quietly shaping infrastructure across the UK. Their commitment to manufacturing high-quality, durable products locally means Councils like ours can rely on effective, long-term solutions for improving road safety. We’re delighted to celebrate their 40th anniversary and recognise their ongoing contribution to our Borough’s economy.”
Chris Turton, Managing Director, Simmonsigns Ltd, said: “As we celebrate 40 years of Simmonsigns, we’re incredibly proud to open our doors and share this milestone with our partners, customers, and community. From our very first product, the Alpha keep left bollard, to today’s smart traffic safety solutions, our mission has always remained the same to make roads safer for everyone. This open day is a thank you to those who’ve supported us on our journey and a chance to showcase the innovation and commitment that will carry us into the future.”
Manufacturing everything on-site in their Telford factory, Simmonsigns prides itself on producing reliable, high-quality equipment that stands the test of time, helping local authorities and contractors deliver cost-effective and long-lasting road safety schemes.
As part of the Borough’s thriving advanced manufacturing and engineering sector, Simmonsigns continues to showcase the strength, skill, and innovation that defines Telford’s business community.
