A Telford company has been handed a leading industry award after transforming a building first developed in the 1960s.
V&D Interiors, based in Dawley, are specialist drylining and exteriors contractors and claimed a top honour at the FIS Contractor Awards.
The business won the Commercial Drylining category sponsored by CCF for their outstanding work at Berrows House in Worcester.
V&D helped turn Berrows House, originally built in the 1960s and the former home of the Worcester News, into a new University of Worcester facility to support and teach medical students.
The redeveloped space includes an anatomy laboratory, a suite of GP simulation rooms, general seminar and teaching rooms, offices and a cafe.
V&D’s Commercial Director Calvin Challis said: “I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our team on delivering this very complex project.
“It is a true honour to secure the award for the best commercial drylining contractor in the country.
“This award has been secured based upon the hard work of our all our operatives, site staff and commercial team so thank you all for your commitment and hard work it is very much appreciated.
“This project would not have achieved this fantastic finish without the help of some key individuals; Chris Neild, David Nemsadze, Yuriy Tsvyatko, and Owen Cresswell.”
An eye-catching aspect of the scheme, a large open plan breakout space,features monolithic curved partitions and ceilings.
Judges said: “The complex installation to achieve the monolithic curved walls and feature rooflights showed the quality achieved by V&D’s workmanship.”
Winners of the 2024 Awards were announced at the FIS Awards Lunch at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
