Telford College’s new employer relationship manager says she is looking forward to helping local businesses grow and thrive.
Sarah Capewell, who has been working in education for more than 20 years, joined the college in spring last year.
She was previously on the staff at Bridgnorth Endowed School for 13 years, and has also worked in the Ludlow area, as well as playing a big part in an apprenticeship programme for health support workers, for the NHS.
Having originally taken on care leaver co-ordinator and health assessor roles at Telford College, she now has a new front-line position to match local employers with the skilled staff they require – and promote the broad and growing curriculum.
Sarah will be specialising in the health, early years, business and digital sectors, and says she is excited to get out and about on the networking circuit and learn more about the upskilling and recruitment needs of local employers.
“This role is all about bridging the gap between businesses and education, building strong partnerships and creating learning opportunities that will benefit both employers and employees,” she said.
“I’m keen to speak with employers who can offer apprenticeships or other job opportunities for students, while also ensuring the Telford College curriculum continues to align with their needs.
“I think my past experience has given me the ability to look at the links between education and business from various different perspectives,” she said.
“I want to help upskill the Shropshire workforce for the future. There are enormous opportunities in sectors such as healthcare right now, and I’m keen to ensure that businesses have access to the right people to help them grow.”
