Telford & Wrekin Council has launched a new campaign – Stay Near, Go Far- to inspire people of all ages across the borough to explore exciting career, training and educational opportunities available locally.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the wide range of skills, learning and employment support on offer in Telford and Wrekin to help residents thrive.
Whether they are leaving school, changing careers or returning to work after a break, the message is there’s no need to move away to succeed.
From apprenticeships and adult learning courses to careers in global industries based locally, the borough offers a wealth of options, all accessible right on the doorstep.
Developed by Telford & Wrekin Council in collaboration with key partners, including educational providers, employers and skills networks, the campaign supports the Council’s wider skills strategy and vision 2032 ambition to build a strong, more inclusive local economy.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment, and Skills said:
“We want residents to know that Telford & Wrekin Council is full of opportunities. Whether you are just starting out, changing career or returning to work, there is so much local support to help you thrive.
“This campaign is about showing residents that they don’t have to move away to succeed, you can go far, right here”
Stay Near, Go Far also shines a spotlight on local talents and aims to support those who may have been out of work due to illness, caring responsibilities or other challenges.
By helping more people gain new skills and access local opportunities, the Council hopes to reduce inequalities and strengthen the borough’s workforce, particularly by encouraging young people to consider long-term futures in the area.
This campaign will run throughout the year sharing real stories, resources and information across digital channels and at community events.
