Midland Computers celebrates 25 years of teamwork and growth

Amy Davies MD at Midland Computers

Midland Computers, a Telford-based business offering full-service IT solutions to companies across the region, is celebrating a quarter century of success with a series of events and initiatives throughout 2025.

Committed to its people-first approach, Midland Computers is excited to celebrate this milestone with its employees through a team-oriented event and a charitable campaign. As part of the commemoration, the company is donating £250 on behalf of each of its staff members to a charity of their choosing. And later this summer, it’s hosting a community celebration, bringing together clients, prospects, vendors, and local businesses.

Alan Miller, Sales and Marketing Director said: “Established in 1999 by Chris Bickerton and originally located in a unit in Tweedale, the business built computer systems which were shipped across the UK. The company started with Chris and just one other employee, David Haycox, who remains an employee to this day and has since progressed to Consultant Engineer.

“The internet and emails were relatively new at the time, leading to a huge industry boom as more companies and individuals sought to embrace new technologies.

“Over time, demand continued to significantly increase, and the business moved to a larger office in Halesfield. Needing even more space, we invested time and money into renovating it to maximise its potential for our growing team. We also introduced a dedicated data centre and quickly evolved into a comprehensive IT services provider.”

Since then, Midland Computers has continued to grow by partnering with market-leading vendors, such as Microsoft, Hewlett, Packard, and dell, to deliver cutting-edge solutions. And it’s recruited a team of talented professionals, added a fleet of vans, and increased its service offering, allowing them to support over 300 businesses.

“Since inception, the company has overcome numerous challenges – from the 2008 credit crunch to the current cost-of-living crisis, as well as the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic,” Alan continued. “This was a pivotal time for the company, as more businesses transitioned to digital and remote ways of working, and we had to quickly and efficiently support them in ways we never had before.”

Amy Davies, Managing Director at Midland Computers, added: “Having been part of the business for almost 19 years, I’m incredibly proud of how the company has evolved and to now be at the helm of leading it into the next chapter. We’re genuinely committed to our clients with a consultative and tailored approach. Our team offers a free audit to all businesses to fully understand their challenges, needs, and budgets, ensuring we recommend a solution that appropriately suits them.

“This people-centric philosophy is also evident in our employees. Around 10 of our team members are shareholders, meaning they are directly invested in the success of the business, genuinely care about its growth and stability, and continually strive to make it a great place to work. As a result, we have stellar retention rates, with over half of our workforce having been with us for at least a decade.”

Midland Computers recently collaborated with another Midlands-based business, Reech, to rebrand and unveil a bespoke website designed to enhance customer experience and better showcase the variety of IT solutions they offer.

“It’s great to reflect on the past 25 years and look forward to an exciting future ahead. The industry is ever-evolving, and so is our commitment to continuous learning and support. We’re eager to stay ahead of the curve, introducing innovative services like AI and cloud solutions, driving growth and transformation for our clients.”

More information about the upcoming events and charitable donations will be shared on the Midland Computers website and social media channels.
