A community hub in Telford has welcomed two new groups for Sunday morning worship as it strengthens its commitment to supporting local faith organisations.
Meeting Point House, in Southwater, is now home to The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship and The Bridge Church Telford who meet at the facility on a regular basis.
Established in 1988 by a partnership of churches, voluntary groups and civic bodies, Meeting Point House was founded on a vision of community and faith working together.
Today, its mission remains “to be the enduring Meeting Point in the heart of Telford that increasingly inspires, connects and enables statutory, faith and voluntary organisations”.
Each Sunday, the building is dedicated to several faith groups. Among its established residents are Telford Quakers and Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries, with The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship and The Bridge Church Telford now joining the community.
The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship, a Bible-based and Spirit-led church focused on transformation through the gospel, meets in the Quaker Room whilst The Bridge Church Telford, an independent evangelical church helping people to know and follow Jesus through the Bible, holds its Sunday services in the Walker Room.
Steven Jones, of The Bridge Church Telford, said: “We wanted a town centre location that was easily accessible for both regular attendees and visitors.
“Meeting Point House has provided an ideal venue at an affordable cost. The rooms meet our needs, and the staff have been friendly, helpful and efficient.”
Wayne Jenson, CEO of Meeting Point Trust, said: “We are thrilled to welcome The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship and The Bridge Church to Meeting Point House.
“Their presence reinforces our historic commitment to being a place where faith groups can gather, worship and serve.”
He added: “Meeting Point House was founded through church and community partnership, and faith remains at our core. Our building is more than meeting rooms and a café – it is a spiritual home in the heart of Telford.”
Alongside these Sunday congregations, Meeting Point House hosts a wide range of charities including Telford Christians Together, the CAP (Christians Against Poverty) debt centre, and Yellow Ribbon Community Chaplaincy.
The on-site Hummingbird Café, open Monday to Saturday, offers a warm and inclusive community space.
As the two new congregations become established, Meeting Point Trust looks forward to collaborating with them on worship events, outreach and community projects, continuing its role as a spiritual, social and civic meeting point for Telford.
