Brian Evans

A Shropshire law firm is once again riding high in a national guide which ranks lawyers and firms based on independent research.

Lanyon Bowdler has 15 lawyers and eight practice areas recommended in the latest edition of the Chambers UK legal guide – with two lawyers moving up a band from last year’s rankings and two making a first appearance as ‘up and coming’ lawyers.

The Chambers UK guide ranks law firms based on independent research and interviews with clients, and has been helping people find the best legal professionals in the UK for more than 30 years.

The latest guide recognises 6,011 ranked departments nationally, 14,722 individuals, 1,334 associates, 864 up-and-coming individuals and added 565 women to the rankings this year.

Brian Evans, managing partner at Lanyon Bowdler, said: “We are delighted that Lanyon Bowdler has once again been recognised so prominently in the Chambers UK national guide.

“It is an extremely important publication within the legal profession, offering reassurance to clients seeking the best possible service to meet their requirements.

“Congratulations to all of our lawyers who are named, which is a glowing independent endorsement of their high standards and professionalism.

“It is fully deserved and a fitting tribute to their continuing dedication and commitment on behalf of our clients.

“It is particularly pleasing to see Gráinne Walters and Dawn Humphries moving up a band from last year and Laura Weir and Natasha Gibbons being recognised as up and coming lawyers.”

The guide recognises Lanyon Bowdler’s “exceptional regional clinical negligence team which operates at the same level as major London firms.” And “a really brilliant team of specialists who are great to work with, personable, knowledgeable and  dedicated to their clients.”

Comments about the personal injury team include: “Lanyon Bowdler is a kind and compassionate firm who seem to really care about their claimants and get strong results for them.” And “Dawn Humphries leads the personal injury department with an air of calm and grace. It makes for a very reassuring environment for people in her team.”

The firm’s private wealth law department is highlighted as: “A knowledgeable team, professional and easy to work with. The lawyers  are experts and care about getting the best outcome for their clients.” And Edward Rees is recognised as being “excellent at his job,” and “really knows his stuff. He is a true professional.”

Meanwhile, the corporate mergers and acquisitions team is said to have “Magic Circle expertise,” while recommendations for Gráinne Walters, head of the department, included: “We felt confident in her advice at every stage. She understood that time was of the essence  and the deal was completed on time.”

The firm has five lawyers ranked in Band 1 of the guide, five in Band 2, four in Band 3 and one in Band 4, whilst three practice areas are named in Band 1, two in Band 2, two in Band 3 and three in Band 4.
